As you may be aware the CROW act 2000 will eventually squeeze us onto lanes with a Byway status only. Within our club there is a core group of people who are working extremely hard to try and stop this. They have to examine tons of old maps and information to try and find evidence that will prove that the existing lanes shown as RUPP’s or Unclassified Roads should in fact be Byways. They then have to fill in loads of forms, find the landowners and inform them of their intensions and process the cases. This procedure takes an unbelievable amount of time and money. Currently this is costing in excess of £100 per week and club funds will not last more than a few months. We are covering the whole of Oxfordshire therefore lanes near you will benefit from this work. For every hour the paid researcher puts in there is at least one other volunteer working free of charge. The task is enormous but at the moment we are lucky to have found someone who is competent and willing to do a lot of the spadework. There is a second researcher we could also make use of if we had the funds. This opportunity won’t last but it should be seized upon while it is there. We desperately need your donation to help pay for this effort. Please help to decide the fate of your lanes and make a reasonable donation.
